This week Mike and Laura look at FinTech through one lens: AI agents. Agents that act for customers, agents doing regulated work inside a bank, and the payment rails those agents may run on. Here is what executives in regulated industries should take from it.
The Personal Agent Protocol. On October 6, 2026, Sierra introduced the Personal Agent Protocol, an open standard Meta and Sierra are developing with partners including Genesys, Instinct, Rocket, Shopify, Stripe and Walmart. It defines how personal AI agents interact with businesses and gives companies visibility and control over what those agents can do. Sierra says a v0.1 specification is planned for later this month. We discuss why authorization and auditability of agent actions are now a control question, not a convenience feature.
DNB puts agentic AI on the cost line. Norway’s DNB announced a reduction of about 400 full time equivalents in its Technology and Services area, citing agentic AI that now handles tasks in customer data control, KYC work, and technology development and coding. We explore what it means when agents move into compliance heavy workflows, and why accountability always stays with the institution.
Stablecoin infrastructure draws capital. Tech.eu reported that UK startup Noah closed a $38 million seed round, including an additional $16 million, to expand in the US with a new New York office. We cover the operational questions CFOs and risk leaders should ask of any stablecoin provider.
Revolut doubles down on Singapore. Fintech News Singapore reported that Revolut plans to invest nearly S$350 million in Singapore over five years and grow its local team to more than 300 people, as Revolut Business saw sharp growth in deposits, transfers and card payments. We look at what this signals for SME banking across Asia.
